Dentures and dental implants are both means of replacing missing teeth. Traditionally, dentures are placed over the gums, and removed every night before bedtime. Dental implants are small, titanium posts designed to replicate a tooth root. They are implanted in the boney ridge beneath your teeth. To replace the upper, visible portion of tooth, one of three restorations may be used on top of the dental implant: a tooth crown, dentures or a dental bridge. Some of these options are fixed and non-removable, although dentures can be designed to snap on and off of dental implants, if you want a removable restoration.
